Alma Lewis James wrote her 1st edition in 1967. She then published a 2nd Edition in 1977. The 1st edition contains a lot of rare historical information about William T. Stackpole. For reasons unknown, almost all references to William T. Stackpole were removed when she published her 2nd Edition. It is likely she deleted the Stackpole Chapter to make room for more content related to daily life in Fairbury in order to keep the book length about the same at about 225 pages.

Her 2nd Edition was transcribed into text by Dale C. Maley in April of 2026 to capture and preserve the valuable work done by Alma Lewis James.  Several file type versions of this book were uploaded to Archive.Org so future generations can access this version of the book. File type versions include PDF, DOC, and TXT.
